As our home away from home, our family lives at the Boulder Hut each winter and every other chance we get! This mountain home is a special place that comes alive with each person that stays here. We consider Boulder Hut to be your complete getaway package– it is a ski lodge.
For us, authentic backcountry means comfortable, but rustic. The Boulder Hut has everything you need to experience a true backcountry adventure. What you won’t find is 5 stars, white linen, and web browsing! What you will find is old-school backcountry skiing and accommodation at its best. Accommodations are all rustic wood-heated log buildings. A gravity fed water system supplies the Boulder Hut with cold water. A small hydro charger supplies the lodge with light, music, and adequate electricity to recharge battery-operated devices so feel free to bring your CDs or ipods! Family-style, hearty and delicious meals are served around the large dining table at Boulder Hut. Relax or stretch out in the loft with a book while dinner is cooking.
Pristine Alpine Community Setting
The Boulder Hut is often described as a hamlet or alpine village by newcomers. Our lodge consists of rustic log buildings sitting just below the majestic Purcell Mountain tree line. The Boulder Hut, Bunkhouse, Staff housing, Yancey home, Hot Tub/Shower House, and Shop ensure your stay in our little village is warm and welcoming. While you are here, make sure to enjoy Canada’s highest backcountry hot tub. Winter evenings under the stars are irreplaceable memories. You might even get a glimpse of the Northern Lights!
Group Lodging
The bunkhouse, originally the “Casa de Suenos” is a separate sleeping cabin accommodating up to twelve people. Single and double platform beds are sectioned off for privacy and include comfortable foam mattresses wrapped in flannel sheets with duvet covers. Listen to the fire crackle as you bundle in for the night. The huts are wired with minimal electric lighting. Internet access is available to guides and trip leaders for avalanche forecasting and critical communication.
Staff sleeps in separate quarters, but will share cooking facilities with self-guided groups. Caretakers who provide assistance with lodge operations are included as part of the lodge rental for self-guided groups.
